Universal Studios Singapore had its grand opening over the weekend, with a special ceremony attended by global celebrities including action star Jet Li, actress Maggie Cheung and American singer and X Factor judge Paula Abdul.
One of the highlights of the event was a character procession showcasing some of the well-known figures who will greet visitors to the theme park.
Guests can experience a total of 21 rides and shows, inspired by films and franchises including Madagascar, Jurassic Park and Shrek.
The park is part of Resorts World Sentosa and is expected to welcome some 4m visitors this year.
Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive of Universal Parks and Resorts, said: ‘We’re proud to be a keystone feature of Resorts World Sentosa and welcome Universal Studios Singapore to the growing family of Universal Studios parks and resorts worldwide.
‘We look forward to being a part of the continued success, development and growth of Singapore’s burgeoning travel and tourism industry.’
