This last weekend the colors in Spearfish Canyon were pretty amazing. Even better, we were blessed with clear blue skies and temperatures in the 80’s. The bright sunlight filtering through the gold and red leaves made them stand out beautifully against the blue, blue sky.
If you weren’t able to make it up into the Hills, don’t despair. The colors are going to grow even more vivid throughout the week and it looks like more nice weather for the reminder of the week.

Canyon fall colors are at 78%, and this weekend will be spectacular as it reaches it peak on Sunday or Monday. Every color is bursting into its glory with the vivid rusts and oranges of the oak, the sparkling golds of the aspen and birch, bright yellows of the cottonwood and willow, ruby reds of the nannyberry, ivy, and climbing grape vine and the royal purples of the dogwood. With the mild temperatures ahead, this year’s rhapsody in leaves will be the most sensational in many years. Enjoy nature’s poetry.
