The jeep was packed and the tank was full, stunning Na Pali views and adventure were on our agenda. We headed to Kauai’s west side near Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park. Rain splashed on our windshield but we didn’t care; as we say in Kauai, “You don’t like the weather? Wait five minutes.”

Be careful at Milolii Vista, there have been numerous fatalities due to the loose dirt and steep cliffs.

We filled our tummies at the Kalaheo Cafe, about 45 minutes South of Kokee State Park. The night before had been a late one so I ordered the Morning Madness with four shots of espresso! Eggs Benedict and hash browns for me and a meat loaded omelet for my husband. We grabbed

Travellers visiting Valencia this month can see a display which the Spanish Tourist Office describes as the ‘greatest exhibition’ of robotic dinosaurs in Europe.

The show has been based at the City of Arts and Sciences since May last year and will run until 29 May 2011.

It covers an area of 3,000 square metres and offers experiences that will take visitors on a journey to prehistoric times.

Dinosaur models range in stature from the relatively small stegosaurus, at just over two metres, to the giant diplodocus, which measures 27 metres from nose to tail.

Visitors can enjoy the replicas’ realistic movements and learn more about their time on Earth.

Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, which is located where the old Turia river used to flow, comprises attractions including an IMAX cinema, a planetarium and a science museum.

People visiting the destination during holidays in Spain can also take the opportunity to explore the Barri del Carme neighbourhood and see the Seu cathedral.

Beach resorts on the Yucatan Peninsula are removed from the violence, author says.

New York — Mexico tourism is having a bit of a PR problem lately.

Reports of mass grave sites, daylight shootings and carjackings from the escalating drug war don’t exactly build confidence for a family planning a week’s holiday. And on April 22, the U.S. State Department upgraded its travel warnings to target 14 of Mexico’s 31 states.

Now’s not the time to visit our southerly neighbor, right? Well, wrong. Mexico is a lot safer than you may realize.

We tend to lump all of Mexico — a country the size of Western Europe — together. For example, a border incident resulted in the death of a Colorado tourist last year, and the Texas Department of Homeland Security recommended against travel to all of Mexico.

Cinco de Mayo is an unofficial holiday in Hawaii, as it is in many states,  but here it shares the day with another tradition. Called “Children’s Day” in Japan, most here call it “Boy’s Day”, the 5/5 companion of “Girl’s Day” on 3/3.

A co-worker brought these tiny origami treats with small chocolates inside for both Boy’s Day and Girl’s Day.

In Japan, this is a national holiday, part of Golden Week celebrations. According to Wikipedia, it is also celebrated in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Vietnam. It has ancient roots, beginning as a seasonal festival around 600 C.E./A.D. The symbol of this day is carp – either carp banners or carp kites are popular gifts. One

Air travelers pass through security at Orlando International Airport in Florida on Monday.

— Travelers expressed both relief and concern about the death of Osama Bin Laden, the terror mastermind who changed airport security forever after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Bin Laden’s killing brought immediate global travel warnings even as many fliers pondered whether the terror threat they’ve had to worry about for almost a decade would ultimately subside.

Passengers on board El Al flight 27 from Tel Aviv — the first international flight to arrive Monday morning at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport — found out about the news when they touched down.

“It gives a greater feeling of security knowing there’s one less person who wants to kill people,” said Manny Landau.

But other passengers wondered what’s next.

“The people on the flight started saying, ‘Well does that mean the cells will be more active?
