Early next month, WildChina will be assisting Teach for China to execute their 0 Leadership Summit in Lincang, Yunnan. Established in 00, Teach For China is inspired by the vision that one day, all Chinese children will have access to a quality education.  Teach For China takes a unique approach to eliminating educational inequity by enlisting the US and China’s most promising future leaders in the effort.

Over the two day summit, the Teach for China Leadership Team, Organizational Supporters, and Board of Directors will visit placement schools, meet their Fellows working there, and observe their efforts in some of China’s most underresourced schools. Sara

Whether its the crappy weather or just my sorry mood, inspiration has been lacking in my life since the new year. So to fight it off, I spent this past weekend trying to improve my mood. First with the first plane ticket purchase Ive made in MONTHS (hellllooo Norway in March!) and second with a weekend of wandering around lost in Berlin.

The dream of a private island paradise vacation seems impossibly remote, a whim reserved for the annoyingly wealthy blessed with too much leisure time.

But it turns out the dream can be yours for $22 a night, just a two-and-a-half-hour drive and a short paddle from Montreal.

Early last summer, my wife, sons Matthew, 6, and Owen, 4, paddled to a small island we had all to ourselves for the weekend at the Saranac Lake Islands Public Campground in New York state. It’s one of the few camping sites in this part of the continent that is water access only – you need a boat to get to its 87 camping spots, New York Department of Conservation park ranger Bill Ulinski tells me. About half of the sites are on islands in either Lower Saranac Lake or the slightly farther removed Middle Saranac Lake, and the rest are spread out along the shoreline, tucked in amid the trees, invisible from the water.
