“Who would go to Hawaii in June?” a friend asked when I talked about a trip I took to Maui last year.

A travel writer on a budget, for one.

I, too, was skeptical about the timing, but the weather was a perfect 70-80 degrees, with low humidity and evenings cool enough to sleep without AC.

By planning my trip in the first week in June – after spring break and before school let out for the summer – I found deals on airfare and hotels that weren’t there for travel earlier or later.

Visiting Hawaii during the slower seasons – early February and early March, late May, early June or fall – is one strategy for making travel more affordable. Bu

For my latest stay in Paris, I wanted to stay somewhere special — ideally, in a stylish boutique hotel.  When I found the Hotel 7, I not only got my wish — I got to see one of the most stylish hotels I’ve ever seen!

The Hotel 7′s rooms alone are works of art — but if you book one of the suites, you’re in for something really special.

I stayed in the On/Off Suite.

At first glance, it was a beautiful and luxurious suite.  (That bed!  That squishy rug!  Those PILLOWS

After quad biking and sandboarding on the first day of our Sydney escapade with HTC EVO 3D, hosted by Destination New South Wales, we experienced horse riding along the pristine coastline in Port Stephens with Sahara Trails Horse Riding & Farmstays.

My first horse riding experience was at the Singapore Zoo, the sit-and-pose shot for kids. The second ride I was saddled on the horseback for a merry-go-round with a guide leading it in Bintan, Indonesia.

The most recent horse riding experience at Port Stephens in Sydney was exhilarating!

Applying for working Australia visa?

With the number of jobs in Western Australia’s mining sector hitting a milestone, passing the 100,000 mark for the first time in history, according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Australia has become a work haven for those seeking a decent job.

Ranking the worlds thirteenth largest economy as well as the worlds fifth-highest per capita income, Australia is a very prosperous highly developed country, with a stable and competitive economy.

With millions of citizens under any of the visas to Australia subclasses from some 200 countries calling Australia their home, Australia has the most multilingual workforce in the Asia–Pacific region with more than 4 million Australians speaking a second language.

Moreover, according to the latest quarterly Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, job seekers in Australias mining and construction sector were likely to benefit from a favorable hiring climate in the first quarter of 2012.

Data revealed that mining and construction industry employers reported a net employment outlook of 19%, with more than 32% mining and construction sector employers intending to increase their hiring in the first quarter of 2012.

Reporting the most optimistic hiring prospect was Western Australia, having a net employment outlook of 23%.

In addition, Australia continues to see a high demand for a range of specialist mining skills, including: technical managers, mining engineers, maintenance superintendents, maintenance engineers and planners, environmental engineers, control systems engineers, study managers in port and rail operations, electrical trades, and electrical engineering.

However, with the local Australian workforce failing to fill the huge skills gap in the Australian workforce, along with the looming retirement of the baby boomer generation, the nation’s employers are forced to recruit offshore, driving up reliance on 457 work visa for Australia holders.

Now, skill shortages are likely to worsen over the next decade as the working population progressively dwindles.

With these conditions in mind, finding employment opportunities in Australia has become much easier compared to other countries.

Though one must apply and qualify for either a work visa Australian or just Australian work holiday visa and comply with its visas Australian requirements in order to be able to allow work in Australia, Australia offers a lot of job opportunities today despite the global downturn.

Browsing for jobs online is the easiest way to find employment in Australia. This

Mount Rushmore has been moved, apparently, to Washington, D.C., where they overlook the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial.

OK, the real Rushmore is still in the Black Hills. But in Shenzhen, China — I realize we’re jumping around here — there is a theme park called Windows of the World, featuring scale models of the world’s best-known tourist destinations. One of the exhibits in the Americas section of the park features Mount Rushmore looking down at Washington, D.C.

From the photos I saw — including this great shot from the Escatic Pixel blog — don’t really give a sense of the scale. The Capitol l
