Added by debndave on May 9, 2012 The best part of staying in an apartment when traveling is to be able to cook at home. One of the most expensive parts of travel for us, is food. We love to eat well and can never bring ourselves to jump in for a quick bite at the stand up bar or grab a sandwich to go. We love eating well but we cant afford to pay for gourmet meals night after night. So how does one solve this problem? We had the pleasure of staying in the most magnificent of apartments you could ever imagine during our time in Rome with House Trip. Directly overlooking the Colosseum, this 4 bedroom beauty had an opulent dining room, functional kitchen, dishwasher, clothes washer, dryer, jacuzzi and three toilets!

Marari beach is a relatively low profile but wonderful sandy stretch between Fort Kochi and Alleppey. The ‘Mararikulam’ fishing village on the western coast was discovered a decade ago and now houses some wonderful places to stay in. Alternatively you can easily spend a day at this beach while based in Fort Kochi or Alleppey.
Getting to Marari Beach – Marari is well connected by train, bus and flights. The closest rail head is Alleppey which is well connected through the country. The closest airport is Cochin and regular taxis and buses ply on this route for you to make a stop-over.
Weather – Like any coastal town in India, winters are perfect to visit this beach. Peak season runs from October to March. Advance

The battle for online hotel booking revenue continues to heat up with today’s launch of Room Key, a hotel search engine created by the joint venture of six leading hotel companies: Choice Hotels International, Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotel Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International and Wyndham Hotel Group.
On the surface, there’s not much that differentiates this search engine from others, except that naturally the inventory featured is only for the partners’ various brands. Room Key’s announcement also stressed the promise of “confidence” when using the site, given that customers will be booking directly from the hotel companies and not a third party.
Currently, users can only make bookings, however the company indicated that it soon will add independent reviews and the ability to compare, plan and share information.

Whether its the crappy weather or just my sorry mood, inspiration has been lacking in my life since the new year. So to fight it off, I spent this past weekend trying to improve my mood. First with the first plane ticket purchase Ive made in MONTHS (hellllooo Norway in March!) and second with a weekend of wandering around lost in Berlin.
